TEACHERS

Renata was born in São José do Rio Preto, a middle sized city in the countryside of São Paulo. She graduated in Portuguese and English languages from the State University of Londrina, in Parana. Always engaged in college projects, she has lots of experience producing instructional materials for classes.

After finishing her studies, she went to Florianópolis in order to work with the teaching of Portuguese as a Second Language. In Florianópolis, she got a Master's degree in English (Applied Linguistics) from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, where she worked specifically with foreign language teacher education and the relationship between language and culture. At the moment she is taking a Phd in Applied Linguistics also in the field of foreign language teacher education.

Renata taught Portuguese and English in other language schools before, but since 2009, together with teacher Eduardo, she opened SUN 7 School at the beach area of Barra da Lagoa.

She has taught many students from different parts of the world, ages and purposes. She is convinced that, more and more, Portuguese is becoming an important language in the business world and she believes that people are getting more interested in Brazilian culture(s) mostly because of Brazilians' ability to live happy despite all the problems.

Eduardo Grampola

Eduardo Grampola, 30, was born in Pindamonhangaba, a city located in the region of Sao Paulo. He has studied Portuguese and French Language at the State University of Londrina, in Parana. He's also an English speaker and got a Bachelor in Tourism from the University of North-Parana.

Eduardo has been teaching Portuguese since 2007, when he moved to Florianopolis to have a better quality of life and to get in touch with more foreigners. He has experience working in Language Schools, and he's been teaching many kinds of students, such as businessman, travelers and exchange university students. His experiencie over this 7 years teaching portuguese every day helped him to find shortcuts in the teaching of portuguese as a second language. He also designed and produced the book that we use for the beginner's course in our school.

The main ideas Eduardo has about learning a new language are that, in the first place, it's important for students to talk. Right or wrong, trying to speak as much as you can is the best way to improve your knowledge.

He believes that learning a language is a lifestyle, a fantastic experience that is going to change you for the rest of your life. It's about getting to know different cultures, wonderful kinds of people. Every place you go, you'll discover a new way of thinking, how people can be so alike and different at the same time and how interesting it can be to learn new values and ideas.

Human interaction and intellectual development stand out among the many things you will find.
